When you raise your kids to be independant - it means you encourage them to follow their dreams, live large, take risks, and accept accountability for all the choices they make along the way.
It's no surprise that our children love nature, adventure, and travel as we instilled these pursuits all through their lives.
Our middle son Richard is currently tree planting in northern British Columbia. For the most part he's nowhere near cell phone or internet service so hearing from him is sporadic at best. He loves the life of being completely immersed in nature and cut off from civilization, which means we don't always know exactly where he is or what's up. He's got a good head on his shoulders though so we trust his judgement and know he takes mountain safety seriously.
We do miss him though. Dearly. So hearing his voice on the other end of the phone today was pure heaven!
Feeling grateful,
Louise
